Hughes: McCarthy is staying
Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes has held talks with Benni McCarthy and told the striker that he will not be leaving Ewood Park.
The South African international has been linked with a move to Chelsea, and admitted that he wanted to play Champions League football once again.
McCarthy is with the rest of the Blackburn squad in Lithuania to face FK Vetra in the InterToto Cup.
Hughes said: “I’ve talked to Benni. He’s our player, we don’t want to sell him and we’re not going to sell him.
“Benni understands that. He comes to training with a smile on his face and as far as I’m aware he is content.”
